The Grenadier

For those who like a good pint, decent food and a ghost story to go alongside it, The Grenadier is the place to visit. Hard to find as nestled within some Kensington Mews, it does have a wonderful atmosphere and interesting history.

The pub has been frequented in the past by the Duke of Wellington and King George IV and continues to attract interesting clientele such as Madonna and Prince William. The pub was originally built in 1720 as an Officers’ Mess. From that history, it is said that the pub is haunted by the ghost of a subaltern who was beaten to death for cheating at cards. Inside the pub, you can find a wall of newspaper stories about the ghostly history.

The pub is well worth a visit even just for a swift pint whilst walking through the trendy Kensington district.
